Google Buys Motorola for $12.5 Billion
Early this morning Google announced it’s purchase of Motorola Mobility for $12.5 at $40 per share which will “enable Google to supercharge the Android ecosystem and will enhance competition in mobile computing.”
Google has said that “Android will stay open” and even “…run Motorola Mobility as a separate business.” which makes total since if you ask me.
This has been notated as Google’s biggest acquisition and is a very, very bold move that came as a surprise to most – including myself. I knew that eventually Google would buy some mobile company to support their desire to “rule the world” but did not expect it to be now, for that much money or for the company to be Motorola.
As mention on TechCrunch, Google has brought windows to the mobile fight which has failed due to Androids huge foothold on the mobile market with over 550,00 Android phones activated. Course, it almost feels like a new Android is released every week or more. However, this acquisition will change the mobile game now that the 800 Pound Search Grillia is officially “going big”
