Many caught a lot of the new products that were launched like the new iPad Air, iPad Mini with Retina Display or even the expensive MacBook Pro with Retina Display but very few caught the big news:
Apple Makes Mavericks, iLife and iWork Free
Yup, not only will Mac users get the all-new (suposivly) OS X Mavericks free with a simple download from the Mac App Store but Mac & iOS buyers will also get both iLife and iWork absolutly free.
So what does this include?
- OS X Mavericks
- iPhoto
- iMovie
- GarageBand
- Pages
- Numbers
- Keynote
Apple also said that if you’ve recently purchased a Mac or iOS device that did not include the latest versions of Pages, Numbers, and Keynote, that you may also be eligible to download these apps for free.
Why it’s such a big deal
It’s another win for Apple and advantage of Microsoft Windows. This makes users already in the Mac echosystem even happier and makes switching from PC to Mac a LOT cheaper (unless of course you can’t do without Micrsoft Office). Either way, it’s a win for Apple and one that I seriously doubt Microsoft can compete with given their current revenue model.
